To educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.
Our vision
To provide life-changing, high quality programs for girls
To provide life-changing, high quality experiences to the women delivering the programs
To promote and provide an environment that allows all girls and women to reach their full potential
To positively transform how girls and women perceive themselves and their place in society
Our Impact
Girls on the Run of Coconino County was established in July 2008 by a team of
women dedicated to transforming the lives of girls and women in Northern Arizona. During our first Fall 2008 season Girls on the Run was piloted at two schools in Flagstaff and completed by 19 girls. Six coaches, 16 running buddies, and 21 5K volunteers made the first season a success. In Spring 2009, Girls on the Run and Girls on Track were expanded to eight sites and 79 girls participated. 28 coaches, 43 running buddies from the community, and over 50 5K volunteers delivered an exciting first spring season. In Fall 2009, participation increased to 87 girls, and 25 coaches, 47 running buddies, and over 80 5K volunteers made the season possible. Participation in the New Balance GOTR 5K grew to nearly 200. This Spring 12 teams are meeting at 10 sites in Flagstaff and Grand Canyon. Each season over 50% of girls have received scholarships to participate in our programs. Our goal is to continue working to ensure that all girls have the opportunity to benefit from the life-changing experience of Girls on the Run.
